Prineville Fires Community Meeting Tonight
In partnership with ODF IMT 3, OSFM Red Team, California Team 1 and local officials, join us on tonight, Friday, July 24 at 6:00 p.m. at Carey Foster Hall at the Crook County Fairgrounds for a community briefing on the Prineville Fires. Incident and local officials will provide a 30-minute operational update for the Brewer, Box Springs, Crosswhite, Coyote, Henry, Pilot, Conant & Crooked Fires followed by Q&A break-out session where you can talk directly with fire officials. PRINEVILLE, Ore. (July 24, 2026) – Overnight, crews battling the Brewer Fire continued aggressive fire suppression efforts, holding lines and quickly attacking spot fires. Structure protection remained the top priority as crews worked to defend homes while strengthening containment lines. With very active fire behavior overnight, wildland firefighters and structural task forces worked to contain a 30-acre spot fire that crossed established lines on the west side of the fire near Grizzly Road. Today, they will continue to build and improve control lines around the spot fire.
Along the eastern side of the Brewer Fire, crews worked to contain fire that crossed control lines near where the 2710 Forest Service Road and Allen Creek Road intersect. Firefighters also continued mop-up operations around structures on the east side of the fire and provided point protection for homes in the Lofton Creek area.
A Red Flag Warning is in effect today and tomorrow for the area for critical fire weather conditions of strong winds and warm temperatures, which will likely contribute to extreme fire behavior. With the expected increase in fire behavior, OSFM is adding a swing shift staffed by two task forces to defend homes and critical infrastructure during peak burning periods. With additional resources released from other incidents across the state, the incident now has three structural task forces assigned to day shift, two to swing shift, and four to night operations.
Overnight, the Crosswhite Fire absorbed the formerly named Box Springs Fire. The former Box Springs Fire merged with the Crosswhite Fire and will now be reported as Crosswhite West and Crosswhite East, with the Wheeler County line serving as the dividing point. Fire management responsibilities also transitioned at the county line.

The incident is deploying one structural task force to the Crosswhite Fire to support the construction of holding lines along Forest Road 2700 and protect homes and infrastructure along Highway 26.

If You Fly, We Can’t: Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR):
A “TFR” is in place for the fire area daily (24 hours) until further notice. Flying a drone near or around a wildfire is illegal and compromises the safety of both pilots and firefighters and interferes with firefighting efforts. If you fly, we can’t. All illegal drone use will be reported to law enforcement.
