PRINEVILLE, Ore. (July 30, 2026) — Firefighters battling the Rowe Creek Complex – West Zone continue to make steady progress despite extreme fire activity, gusty conditions and difficult terrain. Bolstered by aviation resources and heavy equipment, wildland and structural firefighters continue to focus their efforts protecting communities near the Mill Creek and Johnson Creek areas, just north of Prineville, and to the east of Prineville in the Marks Creeks area. Last night, fire activity in the Mill Creek area increased in the evening with gusty winds and light, flashy fuels in steep topography. Crews were able to construct additional line around the spread and successfully protected homes. Cres expect similar challenging conditions this afternoon.
Incident officials invite the community to learn more about fire operations and speak directly with incident personnel at a Prineville fires community meeting tonight, Thursday, July 30, at 6 p.m. at Barnes Butte Elementary School, 1875 NE Ironhorse Drive in Prineville. In partnership with other incident management teams in the area, officials will provide updates on the Rowe Creek Complex and the Coyote, Henry and Shingle fires, followed by a question-and-answer session. Today, crews look to hold key breaks along Hwy. 26 near the fire perimeter to stop the fire in the Marks Creek, McKay Creek and Mill Creek areas. Along the southeast, firefighters look to continue to connect and strengthen control lines along Highway 26, using direct suppression tactics to control fire activity and continue keeping the fire west of the highway.
The majority of the northern perimeter is lined, and crews attempt to build additional direct line and prep contingency lines east to Trout Creek, as fire managers look to complete control lines over the coming days.
Along much of the western edge of the fire, operations have transitioned into patrol status as firefighters monitor for hotspots and signs of renewed fire activity. Crews continue mop-up operations near the southwest corner of the fire around Grizzly Road and are conducting patrol and mop-up work along control lines and around structures in the Allen Creek Road area.
Evacuations:
Level 1, 2 and 3 evacuations are in effect for the Brewer, Green Mountain and Crosswhite West fires. County sheriff’s offices issue evacuation orders. The most current evacuation information is available at:

A “TFR” is in place for the fire area daily (24 hours) until further notice. Flying a drone near or around a wildfire is illegal and compromises the safety of both pilots and firefighters and interferes with firefighting efforts. If you fly, we can’t.
