PRINEVILLE, Ore. (July 27, 2026) – Firefighters continue to battle the Brewer, Green Mountain and Crosswhite West Fires near Prineville, Oregon, as they head into their thirteenth day. Crews continue to make progress, halting western progression and holding lines just north of Prineville.
Firefighters continue to patrol and mop up the south-southwest portion of the Brewer Fire and are strengthening control lines by removing any vegetation that could ignite. Last night, firefighters used unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to confirm that the fire remained secure within the Lofton and McKay Creek areas. To the northeast, firefighters were able to get around the majority of fire that crossed lines along the A-Y Road and continued securing those areas and improved control lines.
Last night, heat over the fire was so intense that aviation was unable to fly over the incident to map fire growth with infrared. The incident will post new acreage when available. Suppression aircraft will be in use today throughout all three fires as available.
On the southern portion of the Green Mountain fire, fire activity has been slowly backing down the mountain toward North Mill Creek Road. Crews are constructing a combination of dozer and handline, connecting North Mill Creek and McKay Creek roads and will continue strengthening those lines as the fire meets them.
On the Crosswhite West fire, crews continue to perform structure protection on homes in the Marks Creek area while also constructing indirect line to secure the fire from crossing the highway. Last night, resources from Crosswhite West assisted Crosswhite East, securing several spot fires that had crossed highway 26. On the northern portion of the fire, crews continue to perform prep work on indirect line north of Stephenson Mountain.
While the Red Flag Warning was lifted, firefighters still expect hot, dry and windy conditions on the fireline. Columns are expected to be visible again today, with the inversion lifting late morning to early afternoon.

A “TFR” is in place for the fire area daily (24 hours) until further notice. Flying a drone near or around a wildfire is illegal and compromises the safety of both pilots and firefighters and interferes with firefighting efforts. If you fly, we can’t. All illegal drone use will be reported to law enforcement.
