ODF Complex Incident Management Team 2 prepares to transfer command as Rowe Creek Complex reaches 93% containment
PRINEVILLE, Ore. (August 27, 2026) – Overnight, engine crews patrolled the southern portion of the fire for smoke and remaining heat. Three Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) modules continued infrared mapping to help identify hot spots and support efforts to further secure control lines, with flights focused in the Mill Creek and Marks Creek areas.
Today, firefighters will continue mop-up and hazard tree work in the Mill Creek and Duncan Creek areas. Crews working west of U.S. Highway 26 will focus on locating and extinguishing remaining smoke and heat. Suppression repair will continue throughout the fire area, with a focus on repairing dozer lines and mitigating erosion. Contingency work continues east of U.S. Highway 26. Chipping operations along Oregon Route 207 between Mitchell and Service Creek are expected to conclude today. Motorists should use caution, reduce speeds and follow all posted traffic controls where firefighters and heavy equipment are operating.
California Interagency Incident Management Team 4 will assume command of the Rowe Creek Complex today at 6 p.m. as part of a planned transition from Oregon Department of Forestry Incident Management Team 2. Both teams are coordinating closely to ensure a seamless transfer of command and continuity of operations.

Fire suppression and repair operations continue to increase traffic on area roadways. Drivers should remain alert for firefighters, engines and heavy equipment. Please stay out of closed areas and avoid activities that could spark a wildfire.
Weather
Patchy smoke is expected this morning, with clouds decreasing midday and temperatures between 75-85 degrees. Northwest winds will increase to 5 to 14 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph
