ODF Complex Incident Management Team hosts listening session today
PRINEVILLE, Ore. (August 25, 2026) – Overnight, crews continued mop-up operations in the Mill Creek and Duncan Creek areas, using thermal imaging cameras (TICs) and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) mapping to locate residual heat and increase mop-up depth along control lines. Three UAS modules conducted flights across the fire, using infrared technology to identify heat within and near the fire perimeter. Engine crews also patrolled along the U.S. Highway 26 corridor, checking control lines and monitoring for remaining heat. Night shift resources will transition primarily to patrol operations moving forward.
Today, firefighters will continue mop-up and hazard tree work in the Mill Creek and Duncan Creek areas. Suppression repair will continue throughout the fire area, while contingency work continues east of U.S. Highway 26. Chipping operations are underway along Oregon Route 207 between Mitchell and Service Creek. With additional heavy equipment operating on and near roadways, motorists are asked to use caution, reduce speeds and follow all posted traffic controls.
The Complex Incident Management Team will host a community listening session today from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Golden Coffee Company. Community members are invited to meet with fire personnel, ask questions, and share concerns.
Safety
Fire suppression and repair operations continue to increase traffic on area roadways. Drivers should remain alert for firefighters, engines and heavy equipment. Please stay out of closed areas and avoid activities that could spark a wildfire.
Weather and Fire Behavior
A warming and drying trend continues, with temperatures in the 80s and 90s and relative humidity between 12 and 16 percent. Winds are expected around 7 to 10 mph, with gusts up to 16 mph. These conditions will continue to dry fuels, and fire danger remains high.
