Incident Commander:
Tyler McCarty ODF Complex Incident Management Team 3

KIMBERLY, Ore. (Aug. 11, 2026) – Yesterday, firefighters made significant progress on the Bologna Fire and were able to get control lines around the entirety of the fire perimeter. Crews were also able to hold the fire north of Highway 402 between mileposts 5 and 7.

Today, with assistance from assigned and local aviation resources, firefighters look to hold and improve control lines, as well as look for opportunities to tighten fire lines closer to the fire where possible. Crews will continue to focus resources on the southern edge of the fire to protect homes and structures, and will perform mop-up operations along the northern, eastern and western flanks.

Resources assigned to the Cottonwood Fire will continue mop-up operations, which consists of cooling the fire’s edge to build containment lines.

Today, the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) Complex Incident Management Team (CIMT) 3 took command of the Bologna fire from a local Type-3 organization and the Cottonwood fire from a Central Oregon Fire Management Service Team (COFMS) type-3 incident management team.
