There are approximately 3,250 personnel assigned to the 7 large fires across the state, not including many of the local and agency government employees, landowners, forestland operators, and members of the community who are contributing every day.

Initial attack remains ODF’s top priority.

Prevention: The Oregon Department of Forestry reminds Oregonians that despite precipitation expected across the state, fire season is still in effect. The department is still experiencing new lightning and human-caused fire starts across the state and prevention needs to remain at top of mind.

Remaining informed of local fire restrictions is a simple way to prevent you from bringing prohibited fire hazards onto the landscape and from potentially starting the next wildfire. Find danger levels and restrictions across the state here.

Weather: High pressure builds over the region today through Wednesday, bringing warm and dry conditions. Temperatures and dryness peak Tuesday west of the Cascades, and Wednesday east of the Cascades. A thermal trough develops over southwest Oregon this morning, producing northeast winds along the coast. By Tuesday morning, the trough shifts north and sets up offshore, with strongest winds from Mt. Rainier to Mt. Jefferson, and some gusts reaching the Coast Range. Westerly winds return late Wednesday, strengthening through the week and peaking Saturday. Overnight humidity recovery will range from moderately poor to good. Fortunately, lowest humidity values generally do not align with peak winds.

ODF Highlight: The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) has dispatched a Medevac helicopter from the Oregon National Guard – Oregon Military Department (ORNG) to support the wildfire needs in the state. The aircraft is prepositioned in Roseburg for quick response. Through Governor Tina Kotek’s State of Emergency Declaration, ODF is able to order firefighting resources as needed from the National Guard.
