Fire activity includes smoldering and creeping, and occasional torching of interior green areas. Operations underway today include mop up and patrol, and suppression repair. IMT and local agencies are working with landowners affected by the fire to assess damage to range lands. Area and road closures remain in effect. The fire is located on the Fremont-Winema NF and private lands.

Suppression repair operations underway on all fires in complex; however, more suppression repair equipment is needed but is unavailable. Other operations on incident include patrol and mop up, and hazard tree removal in areas where crews are working and along travel routes. Level 1 and 2 evacuation levels in effect for 73 residences in the Ash Valley/South Umpqua Hwy area. The complex is located on the Umpqua NF and private lands.

Crews today are working to contain a slopover on the N/NE flank of the Chaos Fire. Operations underway on the rest of the Chaos, Little Bend, Buckhead and Near Minky fires include mop up, patrol and equipment backhaul. Road and area closures remain in place. The complex is located on the Umpqua NF and private lands.

Fire activity has been confined to the consumption of large ground fuels. Crews are focusing on hazard identification and mitigation in the North Umpqua Hwy area, fire behavior monitoring and suppression repair. Road and area closures in effect. The Jack Fire is part of Rough Patch Complex on Umpqua NF. Private lands affected.

Crews are continuing work on suppression repair projects, including water barring of fire lines, slash removal, chipping, log hauling and processing. The team is downsizing the incident for tomorrow’s transfer of command to a local Type 3 IMT. Road and area closures remain in effect. The complex is located on the Willamette NF.

Fire information
Post-rain effects on fuels have reduced fire activity to creeping and smoldering. Warmer and drier weather today and Friday is expected to increase fire activity. Operations underway include mop up on the SE flank, suppression repair on the E and S flanks, and fire line prep along the W flank. Level 1 evacuation advisory remains in effect for the Breitenbush area, as are broad road and area closures. The fire is within the Bull of the Woods Wilderness on the Mt Hood NF and lands in the north end of the Willamette NF.

More information

  • Warm and dry weather dominates much of Oregon today. Light-to-moderate NE wind activity expected in southwest and south/central Oregon. Onshore winds over the weekend may bring light rain west of the Cascades. Cooler temps and breezy winds on Sunday may bring more rain into western Oregon by Monday. However, little rain is expected in eastern Oregon but stronger winds are likely.
