 More information

  • The potential for new significant fires remains at or below seasonal normal levels for the next few days due to cool, moist conditions. Isolated wet thunderstorms over sections of eastern Oregon on Friday and Saturday will provide some lightning strikes but probably not enough to challenge initial attack due to cool, moist weather. Gusty west winds at times east of the Cascades could present control challenges and boost growth potential for ongoing incidents.
  • More than 2,557,537 acres have burned in 104 large fires and complexes in 12 states. All the large fires in California were active yesterday — the Dixie Fire burned 35,000 additional acres and now totals 662,647 acres, and the Caldor Fire made a run of nearly 40,000 acres bringing its current total to 62,586 acres.
