These trees along I-5 about four miles south of Winston in Douglas County were torched in an evening fire Tuesday, July 14. Crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association, Douglas County Fire District #2 and Winston – Dillard Fire Department responded to a reported fire burning in the median on Interstate 5. Crews arrived on scene shortly after 7 p.m. and located two fires burning in the median near milepost 114. Strong winds fanned the flames, causing the fires to merge together and spread quickly to the south through the light, flashy fuels. The fire was stopped at five acres.
